comic book school semester 1: art dump, pt. 2
what the heck happened in the past 4 months according to my journal sketchbook
In non-chronological order, here’s an assortment of memorable moments from my first semester at CCS as recorded in various sketchbooks (both traditional and digital) throughout the term.
hung out with Maia Kobabe
hosted nine (9!!) CCS Soup Nights in our tiny apartment
snuggled a baby (important)
got a part-time nannying job (the best)
had field trips to: a riso studio, a book arts & letterpress lab, an art museum
dressed as Totoro for the town Halloween parade (a serious affair)
wore a mask to class every day, got covid twice (TWICE!!) anyway
spilled ink all over my desk while feverish and semi-delirious
tried very hard not to pass covid onto my roommate Ollie (Keeper of the Cough Drops); failed
cut my own hair in the bathroom four times
read 22 graphic novels (holy shit?), accidentally returned one of them to the United States Postal Service instead of to the school library the very first week of school, completely panicked
receipt:
and then a very good-humored postal carrier delivered my book to the school’s P.O. box, and I was NOT banned from the school library for eternity …and now it’s time for me to REST like an athlete taking an off-season, see you in the New Year with more comics!
I just wanted to drop by as a new subscriber and say Hi! I really relate to your comic work. It's wonderful to see another transgender artist sharing their experiences to the world! Thank you for giving me a way to share my own experiences thru your comics! Have a blessed new years! 🎊
Thank you for dutifully reminding us about the Post Box Incident, I forgot that happened 😂😂
